I think it's actually melt water from the highlands, and it's coming down through a time-worn gap in the rocks. But it's quite possible that it's coming form a cave. I like the mystery of that. But I personally don't think I did it justice, this was just a snapshot from the boat, I would love the chance to go back and put some real time into this waterfall.
